This confusingly-named but delicious wine, is labeled as a blanc de noirs, but in this case it means it is a still white wine made from Grenache Noir grapes. It is reminiscent of a juicy farm-fresh apple cider, with undertones of coffee and caramel. Pear and stone fruit notes with crisp acidity and a lingering finish. Just so enjoyable to drink and a great contrast to Grenache blanc.

Ludovic Engelvin grew up in the Langeudoc, but is most heavily influenced by his time working alongside Didier Dagueneau and the wines of the world he tasted while working as a sommelier. Ludovic believes in growing only the right variety on the right terroir, and declines to use Syrah, instead focusing mainly on Grenache and Mourvèdre. Each year he releases special edition wines along with a few regulars, and this is one of those special cuvées limited to just one vintage. A small portion of the red Grenache grapes from one of his old vine parcels were vinified as white grapes, with no contact between the skins and the juice. The production was a scant 800 bottles, making this unique and rare wine a must-try!

Vinification: Fifty to sixty year-old vines growing on sandstone and clay-limestone soils. Grapes are hand picked and vinified using no Sulphur and indigenous yeasts. Aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels. A small amount of Sulphur is added before bottling for stability.

Match it with: Cheeses, baked fish with cream, foie gras and terrines.
