Montlouis-Sur-Loire "Nouveau Nez" (Sparkling) 2020
This sparkling wine from the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation shows the purest expression of its origins - just a natural sparkling Chenin Blanc bottled before the end of fermentation. Nothing added! Fine bubbles with a beautiful nose of ripe fruits, orange blossom and vanilla. This was a very sunny vintage, resulting in a richer and more powerful style, with racy acidity and an elegant finish. An ideal pair with seafood and li. Serve at 8°C.
Damien and Coralie Delecheneau, the winemaking team behind La Grange Tiphaine, have played a pivotal role in the resurgence of the Pét Nat in the style’s birthplace - the Touraine. Not only are they a star producer of Pét Nats, Damien serves as the chairman of the Montlouis-sur-Loire producers’ organisation,
and has led the charge for official AOC recognition of this style. He succeeded, and the appellation has recently raised the status of Pét Nat by including these sparkling wines officially in the appellation, the first in France to do so.
Vinification: Ten year-old Chenin vines on clay and limestone. Grapes are hand-harvested and the wine is bottled when it is still fermenting. The fermentation finishes in the bottle, giving the wine its fine bubbles. Ageing potential: 3 to 5 years
Match it with: Great as an aperitif, but will shine when paired with white fish, chilled seafood or light poultry dishes. Or try it with a white fruit dessert or goats cheese.
