Banyuls Grand Cru (Sweet) 2006
Match it with:
This is a sweet and complex wine with delicate and fine aromas of cocoa and roasted coffee, prunes, dried fruits and a great salinity which gives it freshness and length. Best served at 16° this wine pairs beautifully with cheese, fresh figs, foie gras, or with chocolate desserts but is also delightful just by itself!
Terroir:
Known for its exceptional micro-terroir, the Côte Vermeille, has dry and arid summers, mild winters, and a strong influence from both the Tramontana wind and the sea. The soil is Schist derived from the decomposition of the Cambrian volcanic basalt.
Age of vines: 40-50 years old
