Oriol’s 7.5 hectares of vines in Vilassar de Dalt, his hometown, are left to grow as naturally as possible. He uses the lunar calendar to plan production, pruning his vines only very minimally and allowing nature to curate the soil between the plants. As such, wild vegetation has sprung up around his vines, allowing them to grow freely in a natural environment. Oriol’s ancient vineyards of native vines are largely based on granite rock, known locally as Sauló, at between 100 and 350 metres elevation. This results in wines often rich in minerality, conjuring aromas that will take you all the way to the Mediterranean.

Terroir: Granatic sand and gneiss

Age of Vines: 73 years

Vinification: Grapes are hand harvested and fermentation of whole bunches begins with indigenous yeast. After 10 days the wine is pressed off into stainless steel tanks and matured for 10 months with the gross lees before bottling.

Match it with: Roasted chicken or grilled seafood
