Rosé Line-Up

Rosé Line-Up - June 2023

It's hard to look at the forecast at the moment and not immediately head to the park with a bottle of chilled rosé tucked under your arm.

So, we've put together a selection of five fresh and vibrant rosés to keep you cool (and hydrated?), including a sparkling that's quite literally charged with energy, a zippy fresh Gamay reminiscent of sour english sweets and a "fatally" seductive and downright dangerous bottle that won't stop staring at us...

NV VDF "Ze Bulle"

Bruno Ciofi, Loire, France

NV VDF "Ze Bulle"

Bruno Ciofi, Loire, France

A darkly-coloured, softly sparkling rosé. The modest residual sugar adds to the complexity of this incredible bottle.

This is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Grolleau Noir and Gamay from Bruno's biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Loire.

Vinification: Ze Bulle is made by a unique and original method which was invented by Philippe Gourdon of Château La Tour Grise. All the carbon gas and all the aromas generated during the fermentation process are recharged into the wines before bottling.

Match it with: Enjoy as a chilled apéritif to start or with a strawberry tart for pudding!

2021 VDF "La Luxure" - Domaine les Bruyères, Rhône , France

This bottle is the one you'll want to bring along to any BBQ. A crowd pleaser thanks to it's light body with fresh notes of wild strawberries, currants and peonies.

Domaine Les Bruyeres is run by David Reynald, a direct descendant of the Marron family who established the estate in the 18th century. His 23-hectares estate is located in the heart of the appellation Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, in the North of the Rhone Valley. The vineyard has been biodynamically farmed since 2003 so the vines are in superb health.

Here, the terroir is made of a mix of pebble stones that contribute to good drainage on top of a clay-limestone bedrock that stores the water and provides optimal nutrition for the vines.

Match it with: Burrata, peach & fennel salad

Sour english sweets & aromatic freshness...

The plot from which these grapes are from is at Porte du Parc. In making this bottle Céline and Benoit want to keep the aromatic freshness of the Gamay with its aromas of sour English sweets that characterise it.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested in the cool mornings to avoid any oxidation of the fruit. The whole grapes are then delicately placed in the press for direct pressing. The juices are expressed spontaneously and naturally during alcoholic fermentation at low temperature.

Match it with: Summer salads and cold cuts of meat

Vin des Potes, Coteaux du Languedoc, France

VDF “Fatale” x Catherine Bernard 2021

Vin des Potes, Coteaux du Languedoc, France

Fatale is an intense ruby coloured rosé with great freshness and acidity and low tannin levels. One for the natural wine lovers, this bottle can hold her own with more flavourful dishes, so works well if you're planning on grilling some meaty cuts at your next BBQ. With notes of rhubarb and ripe red berries this is a dangerous bottle you won't be able to put down.

A blend of 90% Carignan and 10% Grenache from the village of Restinclières in the Coteaux-du-Languedoc.

Vin des Potes is a project by two French somms - Basile & Yoan - who work with vignerons based in different countries to release an individual cuvée with a specific profile, terroir and story.

Over the years they have collaborated with 13+ vignerons who share the same philosophy -  farming their vineyards biodynamically and low intervention during the vinification process and in the cellar..

Terroir: Clay & limestone soils of Coteaux-du-Languedoc

Vinification: Slow pressing // Whole bunch fermentation // Daily pumping over // 5% Carignan vinified in red
